Shri Ved Prakash Mishra is an Indian Revenue Service Officer of 2004 batch and has worked in various capacities in Income tax department at different stations across the country. He was involved in assessment and enforcement works of the department at executing and supervisory levels. He also worked as Director in Department of Pharmaceuticals during Covid Pandemic in 2021 looking after allocation of critical medicines to states. He is Masters in Physics from Allahabad University.
He joined the Ministry of Environment, Forest and Climate Change (MoEF&CC) in 2021 as Director. He was elevated as Joint Secretary in 2024 and has handled important Responsibilities in different divisions like control of Pollution, Hazardous substance Management Division, Climate Change, International Cooperation. He has played major role in formulating various rules and regulations, their amendments and other policy documents in the field of Environmental Protection. He was instrumental in developing extended producer responsibility framework for processing various waste streams. He played important role in regulatory reforms in CP Division, CPCB & CAQM. He is currently handling Charges like Coastal Management, Wetlands, IT, Botanical Survey of India (BSI) ,Zoological Survey of India (ZSI), Policy & Law in MoEF&CC.
His areas of work also include policy deliberations and international collaborations on environmental initiatives and representing the Ministry on key matters relating to Environmental Protection, green transition and sustainability, with engagement of multiple stakeholders and international partners.
As Director, National Centre for Sustainable Coastal Management (NCSCM), Shri Mishra will provide leadership for the Centre in the implementation of the National Coastal Mission 2.0, as well as other coastal and marine projects and related research.
