The Project
The primary focus of ACESS is to provide coastal managers and regulators a methodology to address cumulative impacts along the coast. The study aims at developing a comprehensive guideline to assess the cumulative impacts of coastal development (past, present and future). This would help in establishing measurable goals, baselines and benchmarks against which cumulative impacts of land based and coast-based developmental activities can be evaluated.
Objectives
Validation of guideline for Cumulative Environmental Impact Assessment (CEIA)
Determining the State of the Coast (along mainland coast of India)
Assessing the pressure on the identified stretches along the coast through carrying capacity studies
Secondary data collection on coastal pollution from 78 Indian coastal districts with pilot study in one of the coastal district from Tamil Nadu
Assessment and compliance with requirements and standards of proposed Blue Flag Beaches Concerning Pollution from Land-based Sources and Activities
